Search (across titles and body text)

Use the sidebar search to look across your whole vault by note title and body text.

• Text in images: text inside images in your notes (screenshots, photos and so on) is searchable too. Reading the text uses your operating system (Vision on macOS, OCR on Windows), and images are never sent anywhere. Reading happens gradually in the background, so a new image may take a moment to show up in search. Results that match only the text in an image are labelled “Text in an image”. On Windows, only the languages installed in Windows language settings are read.
• Enter a keyword to see matching notes; click one to open it.
• Archived notes are normally excluded from results, but "Include archived" brings them in.
• If results seem out of date, rebuilding the search index (ask chat to "rebuild the index") can fix it.
